I was very excited to receive an email from Namarupa’s publishers announcing that the magazine is available in print format again thanks to a print on-demand firm. “Namarupa, Categories of Indian thought, conveys the vast scope of sacred philisophical thought of India.” This is such great news because readers can either download a digital version, order a printed copy or, do both.
If you haven’t read Namarupa before, you can download excerpts for free. Iyengar yoga students might like to start with the article 3 Gurus, 48 Questions, which interviews, BKS Iyengar, TKV Desikachar and the late Pattabhi Jois.
Here is an excerpt:
“CAN YOU DESCRIBE KRISHNAMACHARYA IN THREE WORDS?
Desikachar: One word: acharya [spiritual teacher]. That is enough!
BKS Iyengar: He was a versatile man, an extraordinary man - not of a normal kind. I revered him. He was the master of many subjects. It is hard to find people nowadays with knowledge like his. And how men of our low intellect can speak of him, I don’t know!
Pattabhi Jois: A very good man, a strong character. A dangerous man.”
As well as this article in the Photography issue, there are many other informative articles on subjects including, Indian festivals, Patanjali’s yoga sutras and studying with Krishnamacharya.
Iyengar Insight: My evolution came from my own practice.
